Roatan / Dwellings House Build July 2009

I am in Roatan, Honduras for the next couple of weeks building a home for a family. People here are really into what we are doing. I have had several conversations with folks about other families in need. I hope this is the first of several homes we will build here.

 
  • The posts have been cemented in place. Tomorrow we plan to stop by and cut them to height.
  • Johnny the "Tree Man". The guy in the picture was a real miracle. We needed someone to cut the house foundation posts to height and had no idea where we would find someone. No one that we talked to could do it or even knew where we could get a chainsaw. Even the construction equipment rental business did not have one due to the fact that customers had destroyed the ones they did have. This morning we prayed and while driving we stopped this guy and asked him if he knew of someone. He said he had a new chainsaw and was walking the beach wondering where he could find a job. Awesome…he did it in a short time and a fair price. That is almost unheard of here. I let him know what a provision of God he was and that got him stoked. Thank you God for “Johnny the Tree Man”.
  • We had a productive day. The floor is “island” level and very strong. Working with the family is fun, enlightening, and quite an educational experience. They are great people.
  • The deck is going on.
  • Paul Holzman is interviewing a future prospect for a Dwellings home. We ran into some REALLY poor people. It was eye opening. I am sure God wants us to help them. Join me on a future Dwellings build on Roatan, Bay Islands of Honduras.
  • Let’s build these folks a house.
  • Here is another family in need of a home.
  • The first wall goes up.
  • Front wall with cutout for the front porch.
  • Dedication of the home with friends and family present. We had some reggae worship with Dolphus, pastelitas to eat, some fruit drinks and a lot of visiting. Everyone “toured” the house. It was a great time. Hans wife Daisy was not present. She was in La Ceiba having surgery. Everyone present for the dedication was blessed by seeing God’s provision and expression of love for the Brooks family.
