Roatan, Honduras House Build August 8 - 14, 2010

  • This is Consuelo and 3 or her 4 children. Antonio, Jonathan, Julie. They are VERY excited to be receiving a home. We visited for some time with Consuelo today and learned that her family is from Tegusicalpa, the capital of Honduras. Her husband was a bus driver and while at work was shot and killed. Having lost their father and without income they moved to Roatan to live with her sister. Consuelo works at the local orphanage and does all she can to make ends meet and provide for her children. I am really excited and encouraged to be working with North Seattle Alliance Church August 8-14 to build this home and bless Consuelo's family.

  • We are having way to much fun building a Dwellings Home in Roatan for Consuelo and her family. It works great when a community, family and friends "get it" and join in.
  • NSA - Day 1
  • With the help of family, friends, and the North Seattle Alliance team members we were able to put up a couple of walls of the house.
  • Everybody is having a great time.
  • The "Break Spot" in the shade.
  • Day 2 progress included lifting all four walls into place.
  • Day 2 - The fourth wall goes up!
  • Day 3 started off with carrying lumber and supplies to the job site.
  • Family, friends and neighbors helped along with the team from Seattle. Jonathan (in front) is Consuelo's youngest son.
  • Tony is Consuelo's oldest son.
  • We start off each day with prayer.
  • I hope Greg signed his waiver form.
  • This build included a foot bridge project.
  • The bridge from the new house.
  • The bridge and house.
  • Putting on facia for a gutter and water catch system.
  • Finishing an interior wall.
  • This build also included a path project and septic system project. Everybody kept everybody busy.
  • Consuelo on the way to the dedication of the home.
  • Friends, neighbors, family and the team gather for the dedication.
  • North Seattle Alliance Church team and Consuelo and some friends and family gather for a group photo.
  • After some really fun sharing by all with lots of love and gratefulness the dedication certificate and keys to the home are presented by Tom Hackett to Consuelo.
  • Inside we party and take photos.
  • Everybody is stoked.
  • Gifts from NSA folks are presented to Consuelo.
  • We all head to Casa Isabella for a celebration party which is an opportunity to enjoy our new friendships one last time.
  • We had a great time of celebrating and being together.
  • A good time was had by all.

It was a great send off for the North Seattle Honduras Missions Team. I will continue to pray for all you guys while you are sweating and fanning off bugs! What a fantastic opportunity you have to serve God in that beautiful part of the world. Take lots of pictures. I can't wait to see the progress on this blog. Love you all, especially you Hannah! WOW! What a story Consuela has. Makes me feel guilty for ever complaining about my cushy life. Consuela, I pray God richly blesses you and your family for the love you so sacrificially give then daily. Your story is an encouragement to me. Know that you have a sister in Seattle who is praying for you and your kids during this blessed transition into your new home. God is so good!

Hey everyone, Jon Paris here. The pictures are great, and it looks as though it is going well. We here need Jim Paris to check his email or contact us soon, We have a small issue we need him on. We will continue to pray for you all, and hope that this week goes well as well. It has been such a joy to watch the progress on the building of this home. I will continue to pray that this structure will be a blessing to Consuelo and her family in ways that only God could have made happen. Life can be quite an adventure when Jesus is Lord of our lives! I am so happy my daughter had a chance to participate in God's plan for Consuelo. The best is yet to come!!
